Homeownership

Helping You Build a Place to Call Home

Habitat for Humanity of Greenville County serves Greenville and Laurens counties, as well as the City of Greer. To qualify for our home ownership program, you’ll need to meet basic employment and household income guidelines to ensure that you can afford a monthly mortgage payment. If you think you may qualify, we encourage you to review the qualifications for eligibility before completing the homeownership eligibility form.

For families who qualify, the homeownership process typically takes about 9-12 months to complete. Depending on your individual circumstances, it may take a bit longer—but our team will be there to guide you through each step of the process.

About Our Homes

Habitat homes are designed to be practical and affordable—spacious enough to meet the needs of the families who live in them, yet modest in size to help reduce construction and upkeep costs. We prioritize the use of quality, locally sourced materials and incorporate designs that reflect the local climate and cultural character. Typical construction features include wood framing, gypsum board interior walls, vinyl siding, and asphalt shingle roofs.

Once purchased, homeowners are responsible for home maintenance. Each home comes with a one year warranty on workmanship. After the one year period, all repairs are the responsibility of the homeowner. Normal wear and tear maintenance, as well as lawn care, are the responsibility of the homeowner immediately upon purchase of the home. There is a separate 10-year warranty for the HVAC system and hot water heater.
